A monument to the dragon Zilant in Kazan

Dragon Zilant is one of the main symbols of Kazan. Zilant is a mythological creature found in the Tatar legends and fairy tales. Zilant is one of key symbols of the city and it's image also is pictured on the blazon of Kazan. 

Dragon Zilant sculpture was installed in 2005 at the entrance to the metro station "Кремлевская" (the Kremlin, Kremlevskaya).  It was timed to the day of celebration of the Millennium of Kazan. The author of this project - Marat Gubaidullin (Марат Губайдуллин). 

Statue location

Dragon Zilant is located in the heart of the city, near the Kremlin walls.

  • The easiest way to get to the statue is from metro station "Кремлевская" (Kremlevskaya).
  • Also nearby is the bus stop "Стадион Центральный" (Stadyon Tsentralnyi),  buses: 2, 6, 15, 29, 35, 37, 47, 74, 75.
