The Yeghishe Charents Museum of Literature and Art is located in the very center of Yerevan, not far from the Republic Square.

The museum houses a collection of exhibits dedicated to Armenian literature, theater, music and cinema.

The exposition occupies 5 exhibition halls with a total area of 300 sq.m.

The history of the museum began in 1921. It emerged as the historical and literary department of the Cultural and Historical Museum, created in Yerevan under the People's Commissariat of Education of Armenia.

On May 16, 1935, the State Literary Museum became an independent scientific institution, the first director of which was Khoren Sargsyan.

In October 1954, as a result of the merger of the Literary and Theater Museums, as well as the funds of the Romanos Melikyan Music Cabinet, the Museum of Literature and Art was created.

In 1967, the museum was named after Yeghishe Charents, a famous Armenian poet, writer and translator.
