The monument to Paul Walden in Riga is located near the Faculty of Biology (Latvian Academy of Arts).
The monument is dedicated to the Latvian scientist, Nobel Prize nominee Paul Walden. He was a Latvian chemist who later became a German citizen.
Walden is the founder of physical organic chemistry. He also became famous for his invention of a stereochemical reaction known as Walden inversion.
The monument was erected in 2003.
Sculptor - Andris Varpa.
The monument has an unusual appearance: the object is made in the form of malic acid molecules (the so-called Walden inversion).
The monument also has a bas-relief of Walden.
